Cooperage: 25% new, 75% neutral French oak, 36 mos.
Appellation: Alexander Valley
Production: 85 cases
The Father gets its name from the Cab Franc grape itself; as that grape is the father of Cabernet Sauv and Merlot.
This fruit comes from the bench lands above Alexander Valley, at about 1200 ft.
The color is deep ruby. The nose has rich cherry with hints of damp earth. Upfront on the palate, it’s strong with bright cherry that becomes dark black cherry through the mid and into the finish that is long and elegant, picking up a hint of the earth from the nose. Elegance and balance from beginning to end.
