2010 Freddie Cabernet Franc Rosé |
We chose Cabernet Franc for our Rosé because we wanted the body and fruit to trend more toward a red wine than a white. This Cabernet Franc Rosé is light ruby in color, with hints of earth and ripe cranberries on the nose. Cherry, mixed with strawberry to start, with a mid palate of dark cherry, earth and a little ripe raspberry. The finish is crisp and clean with a good balance of acidity. You will not find a better cab franc rose.
2010 Freddie Cabernet Franc Rosé Brad Beard with Mercury Wine talking about his Cabernet Franc Rosè at the tasting room located in downtown Geyserville California, the heart of the Alexander Valley.
Cabernet franc is a bigger, bolder grape varietal so it is going to make a bigger, bolder cabernet franc rose. The nose of this cabernet franc rose is strawberry, cranberry, it's really nice. From there it hits the front of the palette with the strawberry and cranberry nose. Typical rose fair. But in the mid-palette is where the cabernet franc really comes on. It starts picking up those cherry notes ... and cherry notes are more typical of red wine. So it starts acting and tasting like a red wine. The Freddie Cabernet Franc Rose starts out light and fruity, then hits those cherry notes and finishes like a red. You should try it. |
